New York Tartan Week 2012

From Scotland With Love, Tartan Week 2012

Tartan Week is annual event here in New York City, a celebration of Scottish immigrant influence on America.  This April there were kilts and ceilidhs, poetry readings and parades – even a high end fashion show featuring collections from the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Judy Clark and Scottish Cashmere.  I couldn’t miss out on experiencing the culture of my home country combined with the best of the Big Apple, so camera in hand, I layered my press pass over my pearls and snapped a few shots along the way…

The Statue of Liberty and the Loch Ness Monster

Left: On Tartan Day (April 6th), bagpipes and fiddles could be found in the shadow of Lady Liberty.  Right: Even the Loch Ness Monster made an appearance at the final event, a parade down Manhattan’s Avenue of the Americas.
