I’m a freelance journalist with nine years of experience as a staff features writer covering everything from politics to fashion; I’m also an award-winning travel blogger with an engaged and loyal audience.
In short, I have a lifelong love of storytelling, and can help tell your story in the best way possible.
Why work with me?
Stories My Suitcase Could Tell was awarded Cosmopolitan Magazine’s Best Travel Blog award in November 2014 and was voted Top Travel Blog in a UK-wide competition earlier that year. My travel writing and advice has also been featured in the likes of National Geographic Traveller, Buzzfeed, The Sun, and Black Tomato – see the Press section for more details.
On-the-ground journalism experience.
After eight years as a staff writer, I’m equally as comfortable reporting on a Manhattan fashion show as I am a political debate. Previous interviewees include former British politician Danny Alexander, Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis, award-winning writer Helen Macdonald, sports superstar Danny MacAskill, and cast and crew members of the Outlander TV series.
A proven passion for travel and culture – beyond the ordinary.
My love for learning more about the world was cemented with an MA International Relations from the University of St Andrews in Scotland; a fully-funded scholarship to study Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania; and a year spent teaching English in China with the British Council.
A rapidly growing and engaged audience.
2016 has so far (Jan-May) seen an increase in unique visitors of 187% on the same period in 2015, and readers interact regularly not only in the comments section of Stories My Suitcase Could Tell, but also on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Freelance writing, branded content, accommodation and product reviews, press trips, social media campaigns, travel photography, giveaways, and more!
To discuss your campaign, project, or writing assignment, please send me an email at workwithkathryn [at] gmail [dot] com – I’d love to hear from you.
Please note: I do not accept guest posts or pre-written content, and I do not reproduce press releases. I only write about destinations or products that I have personally experienced and that I am truly passionate about – experiences I can then share honestly with my readers.
