Autumn (or should I say fall?) has officially arrived in New York City. It’s been a while since I experienced autumn. Last year I managed to miss it: I was in Tucson, land of everlasting sunshine, and by the time I returned to Scotland winter was already in full swing. So this year I’m soaking up the season, one that seems to be taken far more seriously on this side of the pond.
Two weeks ago the New Jersey leaves were barely beginning to brown and shorts could still be seen on the streets in between showers. Now that the thermometer has fallen, pumpkins and pine cones are popping up all around town. Ghosts and ghouls garnish doorways and gates, while the living sip spiked apple cider and Oktoberfest flavours of ale. Perfect to put you in the mood for pumpkin carving, apple picking and trick-or-treating…
